Every Saturday at 9am -Free Van Tours
Take a ride around the auto-tour route with a naturalist or Park Ranger. Learn about the refuge ecosystems, management, and history. Observe a variety of birds and other wildlife along our 12 mile auto tour route. Reservations are required so we know to schedule a guide. Tours are limited to 12 people. Meet at the visitor center. Friday, October 4th 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm                             Here come the Bugs!
Join biologist Anthony Gonzon for a journey through the diversity of Delaware’s invertebrate life. Learn about life histories, identification, and fun facts. After the program Anthony will set up lights to draw in insects for observation and identification. Part of this program is outdoors after dark. Bring a headlamp/flashlight and dress appropriately.

Saturday, October 19, 202410:00 am – 12:00 pm             Fishing Basics
Fishing is a fine way to relax and enjoy nature. It’s easy to get started, you just need to know a few basic things and you’re ready to go try your luck. We’ll teach you a few basic knots, how to rig the rod, how to cast the line, and how to use various lures. After the classroom portion, we’ll venture over to Pasture Point Pond to practice. If you want to actually fish, participants age 16-64 will need a fishing license. Otherwise we’ll practice with hookless weights.

Get a close look at the different bird species in the impoundments. Randy Murphy will be set up on the wildlife drive with scopes and binoculars to help you identify shorebirds, wading birds, and whatever else flies by. Look for the blue ID Station sign along the auto tour route.
