Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge deploys several employees to predetermined locations to count Sandhill Cranes as they leave their roost site on the St. Francis wetland. We have 5 counters with left and right limits established to avoid double counting of cranes. Once no more Sandhill Cranes are observed and counted leaving the roost site on St. Francis the count is ended and numbers are added up for a final count for the day. This count is from the County. Road 70 East counting location.
