Observation 6971

Near marsh roost: This year after yesterdays flood warning, the cranes seem to be roosting at the lake west of Pisgah Marsh proper. Counted 73 by standing by the marsh as they flew out (25 flew E and SE at 0748, 7, 4, and 33 flew east at 0802, 2 flew SE 2 flew S). I then drove around farm fields within 3 miles (driving 11.4 miles) and observed 8 others to the northwest and 29 to the west, the opposite directions of the ones who flew out. This makes a total of 110. I also found 35 to the east, which were assumed to be duplicates, but did not find the ones to the SE. This pattern is similar to last year.
