Observation 7337

Pond at the SW corner of intersection of S Corey and W Colby Rds, Locke Township, Ingham County, MI. No cranes at all viewed on this date at this pond which is mostly damp mud and turning to meadow. This year it was surrounded by harvested soybean fields which the cranes do not prefer. Corn harvesting was busy everywhere in the wider area. Also barking dogs and rifle shots were heard to the north. On previous visits: 10/23/22 two cranes at pond and six more in township; 10/11/22 no cranes at mid-afternoon; 10/04/22 six cranes at pond and three more in township; 10/01/22 twelve cranes at the pond and three more in township. Crane numbers at this site are dwindling.
