A visitor to Hosmer Groove at Haleakalā National Park offers water to two nēnē, Feb. 20, 2024. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service ask that the public leave nēnē alone when coming across them in the wild. Interacting with them teaches them to be unafraid of humans and can make them vulnerable to impacts of human activities.
