Change in Operations

covid19

The National Elk Refuge has temporarily changed its operations in response to the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak.

Effective June 6, 2021

The Jackson Hole & Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center is open from 9AM-5PM, daily. Staff are onsite and ready to help you plan your adventure in Jackson Hole.

The interpretive exhibits and bookstore are fully open.

The visitor center is temporarily suspending some services due to limited staffing. At this time, Federal Land Passes, Forest Service permits, Wyoming State licenses and permits, and Yellowstone fishing licenses are not available for purchase at the visitor center.

There are no indoor bathrooms at the visitor center at this time. Portable toilets are onsite in the parking lot for visitors to access. For use of indoor bathrooms, the Home Ranch Welcome Center is located two blocks south of the visitor center and is open 24/7.

Vaccinated individuals do not need to wear a face covering in federal buildings or on public lands.

Unvaccinated individuals are required to wear a face covering in federal buildings and on public lands (when social distancing cannot be achieved).
