Seasonal Trail Closure

The Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge will close the last 700 feet of the Nisqually Estuary Boardwalk Trail during the hunting season. The dates for the closing will be from October 12, 2019 to February 1, 2020. The closure is required for the safety of visitors as waterfowl hunting will be occurring on U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife lands in close proximity to the trail.

Conservation Planning Continues

Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge Complex is continuing to develop Comprehensive Conservation Plans (CCP) for Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge and the Black River Unit of Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually NWR with the help of the public, partners, and interested stakeholders. The CCPs will guide management of these refuges over the next 15 years.The draft CCP and Environmental Assessment is available for public review and comment from October 26 to November 25, 2016.
