About Janet Mizzi

Janet Mizzi is the Field Supervisor for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Ecological Services Program in western North Carolina. Janet leads an office, based in Asheville, of outstanding biologists and support staff that administer the Endangered Species Act and the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program, as well as coordination of local conservation efforts for Mountain Bogs National Wildlife Refuge. Janet began her career with the FWS in 1990 as a student intern with what is now known as the Pathways Program. Her career has taken her to different areas of the country, including the states of North and South Dakota, Utah, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia and finally North Carolina. She has a Bachelor of Science in fish and wildlife management and a master's degree in fish and wildlife science. When not working she spends time landscaping and gardening, fostering for the local animal rescue, reading and spending time with her daughter.
