Swale paintbrush (Castilleja ornata) is also known as the glowing Indian paintbrush and the ornate paintbrush. This flowering plant species was historically documented at 13 sites throughout its range: two sites in New Mexico, ten sites in Chihuahua, Mexico and one site in Durango, Mexico. Currently, swale paintbrush is only known to occur at one site in Hidalgo County, New Mexico.
