Orangeburg NFH has a public aquarium, observation walk, sheltered picnic area, outdoor education area and a 100 acre reservoir for boating and fishing.

Orangeburg NFH is just one of the many Service field stations whose mission is working with others to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people.

Activities

Orangeburg NFH consists of two units, a main station and a substation. The main station has a walking trail that offers great opportunities for birding and outdoor recreation, an aquarium center, and an outdoor education area. The substation is primarily used for fish production. It includes a 100-acre reservoir which provides great opportunities for boating and sport fishing. Typical species caught at the substation location include largemouth bass, bowfin, bluegill sunfish, and channel catfish.

Trails

The Hatchery walking trail goes around our fish production pond to our observation deck. There are many wildlife that utilize our fish production ponds. Canadian geese, Great Blue Heron, Snowy Egret, Wood Storks and Alligators are just a few of the many species visiting our station.
