Picnicking

The hatchery itself is a nice quiet place for a picnic, but we are also located very near to the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, which has countless places for the perfect picnic!

Photography

The hatchery is located near the picturesque Gifford Pinchot National Forest, which offers an array of recreation opportunities.

Wildlife Watching

Keep your eyes open as you drive to the hatchery, the road is surrounded by forests and you never know when you'll spot wildlife, big or small.

Fish Viewing

Willard is a rearing facility, so fish viewing is our specialty! We don't have adults on station, but we have over a million coho and fall Chinook salmon at various life stages in our raceways just waiting to be looked at. Stop in and ask us questions, we love talking to visitors.

Education Programs

Please contact our Information and Education Office at (509) 493-2934 with questions about our Education Program opportunities, or to schedule a hatchery visit!

Birding

The mixed Douglas fir forest type offers bird watchers many opportunities for viewing around the hatchery. Take a look around and keep your eyes open!
