The 2024 revised eagle regulations include the option for eligible applicants to obtain a general permit. General permits are designed for situations where risk to eagles is pre-determined to be low and for which well-established avoidance, minimization, and mitigation measures exist. Under the 2024 revised regulations, general permits are available for wind energy generation projects, power line entities, activities that may disturb breeding bald eagles, and bald eagle nest take for which the applicant meets eligibility requirements.
In addition to eligibility requirements specific to each of these activities (see Rule), general permit applicants must agree to and comply with the standard general permit conditions for their activity.
