About this Collection
Join us in studying the natural world so we can better understand our place in it and learn what we can do to help.
National wildlife refuges protect thousands of species of wildlife — including birds, fish and mammals — in their natural habitat. These animals’ life cycles and adaptations and often-curious behaviors make for fascinating reading. Increasingly, a major threat to the survival of many species is human behavior. One reason we study the natural world is to better understand our place in it and learn what we can do to help.
