Big Pine partridge pea (Chameacrista lineata var. keyensis) is a Florida native shrub. The flowers have five buttercup-like petals, with reddish-brown stamen. It can grow to about 30 inches tall and has compound leaves. It is only found in Cudjoe Kay and Big Pine Key, which is the site of the Key Deer National Wildlife Refuge. Without the protections the refuge provides, this plant might not exist, today.
