Biologist holds yellow sandshell freshwater mussels

Austin Davis, Senior Aquatic Biologist with the San Antonio River Authority, holds yellow sandshell mussels that were raised by Inks Dam National Fish Hatchery and released into the Mission Reach of the San Antonio River just south of downtown San Antonio. This historic event marked the first time hatchery-produced freshwater mussels have ever been reintroduced into the wild in Texas.
