Bogoslof Island, “1992 Dome” extruded during month-long eruption in July 1992. This land-building event created new nesting habitat for seabirds, particularly for murres, kittiwakes, and cormorants. Black-legged kittiwakes started occupying the dome the following summer, in 1993. Tufted puffins are also seen flying by in this image Photo Credit: N. Rojek/USFWS
