Caribou swimming at Selawik NWR

Caribou make some of the longest overland migrations of any creature. They cross rivers and other bodies of water on their journeys, and are effective swimmers. With their hollow, buoyant hair and paddle-like hooves, caribou are adapted to get where they need to go, even in water.
