Conserving Groundwater in the Ogallala Aquifer with Water Rights Lease Agreements CART Case Study Handout

The Ogallala Land & Water Conservancy (OLWC) and Cannon Air Force Base (CAFB) are entering into 3-year groundwater rights lease agreements with landowners. The agreements pay farmers to stop irrigating their crops. CAFB and the OLWC are also working with partners to restore grasslands and playa lakes for groundwater recharge.
