Brynn Perales, right, and Bryant Jew of the Lodi Fish and Wildlife Office release Delta smelt into the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta on Dec. 15, 2021, during an experimental release of hatchery-raised smelt into the wild. The project, carried out with the California Department of Water Resources and U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, will help inform future supplementation of the species in the wild.
