Black and white wash drawing of harlequin ducks by John H. Dick. A world traveler and photographer, Mr. Dick illustrated several books about American birds.

Plates Issued: Intaglio (front) - #162602, #162603, #162604, #162605; Offset (back) - 47510. Colors: Front - Blue; Back - Black. Designer/Modeler: Robert L. Miller, who also added necessary detail to the central design to make it suitable for bank-note engraving. This is the first stamp to display the name of the species. Engravers: Vignette - George A. Gundersen; Frame - John S. Edmondson; Letters - John S. Edmondson; Numerals - John S. Edmondson. First Day of Sale: July 1, 1952. Issue: 1952, Nineteenth (fourth $2 stamp). Quantity Sold: 2,296,628.

Inscription: Front - "U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Void after June 30, 1953. Migratory Bird Hunting Stamp. 2 Dollars. Harlequin Ducks." Back - "It is unlawful to hunt waterfowl unless you sign your name in ink on the face of this stamp."
