Four Palamedes Swallowtails on a Yellow Thistle

Four palamedes swallowtails nectar on a single thistle flower head. These spiky wildflowers, also called bristle or bull thistle, are excellent pollinator food sources in early spring. At times, more than a dozen swallowtails can cover a single flower head!
