To avoid and minimize invasive species invasive species
An invasive species is any plant or animal that has spread or been introduced into a new area where they are, or could, cause harm to the environment, economy, or human, animal, or plant health. Their unwelcome presence can destroy ecosystems and cost millions of dollars.
Learn more about invasive species potential impacts to fish and wildlife resources, we recommend incorporating invasive species biosecurity protocols into your project planning. We recommend biosecurity protocols be incorporated when project activities occur within any area containing predominantly native habitat. Project activities involving transportation of a substantial amount of materials (i.e., construction materials or aggregate, etc.), vehicles, machinery, equipment, or personnel between sites should also incorporate biosecurity protocols. Additional consultation with the Service is recommended if the project involves transportation of materials, equipment, vehicles, etc. between islands or transpacific movement. Species-specific biosecurity protocols should also be considered and implemented depending on the geographic area and/or specific activities of your project.
