Mussel silos on the bank of the San Saba River

Researchers with the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute designed and built specialized mussel silos to study the growth of juvenile Texas fatmucket mussels in the San Saba River in Central Texas. The team is studying how the extreme low and high flows that plague the San Saba River impact populations of these rare mussel species and how climate change might exacerbate their struggle to survive.
