A Pacific fisher

A Pacific fisher, a cat-sized member of the weasel family, emerges from its daytime rest in a hollow log. Fishers in northern California and southern Oregon have benefitted from several conservation partnerships between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and state and private timber companies that have kept them from being listed under the Endangered Species Act.
