Wetland Resources: Georgia

Georgia has more than 7.7 million acres of wetlands--about one-fifth of the surface area of the state. Most wetlands in Georgia have been adversely affected by human activities, but coastal salt marshes and a large area of preserved wilderness in the Okefenokee Swamp remain relatively undisturbed.
