Road improvements at the refuge’s Entrance Road are currently underway. The Entrance Road will be closed to all traffic (vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians) during this time. Visitors will be able to enter the refuge through Marshland Access Road (located on Hwy 35/54 about 5 miles west of Centerville) while the Main Entrance is under construction. Please note:
*Detour route will be posted directing traffic to our alternate entrance.
*This closure affects the section of the Great River State Bike Trail entering the refuge through Entrance Road.
*Refuge hours will remain sunrise to sunset.
*When leaving the refuge, please follow detour signs on the Prairie’s Edge Tour Loop to exit back through Marshland Access Road.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your flexibility. Thank you for your patience as we work to improve your National Wildlife Refuge.
This project has an anticipated completion date of June 30th.
