The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Sacramento Fish and Wildlife Office has assembled an official Recovery Implementation Team to support the recovery of vernal pool species and ecosystems in California and southern Oregon. The Vernal Pool Recovery Implementation Team will develop and implement conservation actions based on guidance found in the 2005 Recovery Plan for Vernal Pool Ecosystems of California and Southern Oregon. The members of the Team consist of a diverse group of over 50 interested parties, including federal, state, and local government agencies; academics; species experts; environmental NGOs; land trusts; and environmental consultants. Ensuring diverse representation on the Team is essential to achieving the recovery goals for vernal pools in the region.
Below, you will find the current charter for the Vernal Pool Recovery Implementation Team. This charter identifies the background, mission, goals, and general organization and anticipated for the Team. In addition to the range-wide (California and southern Oregon) Recovery Implementation Team, there are several locally-based Regional Working Groups. The jurisdiction of the currently active Regional Working Groups can be found below. The Recovery Implementation Team will focus on range-wide recovery actions, range-wide coordination, and range-wide recovery related topics that are applicable to vernal pool species and ecosystems throughout California and southern Oregon. Regional Working Groups will be focused on local recovery efforts including working with local partners and landowners to protect, manage, and monitor the vernal pool species and habitat within their regions. The Recovery Implementation Team and each Regional Working Group meet monthly.
