The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Sacramento Fish and Wildlife Office is preparing to create an official Recovery Implementation Team to support the recovery of vernal pool species and ecosystems in California and southern Oregon. The Recovery Implementation Team will develop and implement conservation actions based on guidance found in the 2005 Recovery Plan for Vernal Pool Ecosystems of California and Southern Oregon. The Service aims to create a diverse Team consisting of federal, state, and local government agencies; Tribes; academics; species experts; environmental NGOs; land trusts; and agricultural and business interests. Ensuring diverse representation on the Team will be essential to achieving the recovery goals for vernal pools in the region.

Below, you will find the current working draft of a charter for the Vernal Pool Recovery Implementation Team. This charter identifies the background, mission, goals, and general organization and structure structure
Something temporarily or permanently constructed, built, or placed; and constructed of natural or manufactured parts including, but not limited to, a building, shed, cabin, porch, bridge, walkway, stair steps, sign, landing, platform, dock, rack, fence, telecommunication device, antennae, fish cleaning table, satellite dish/mount, or well head.

anticipated for the Team. In addition to creating a range-wide (California and southern Oregon) Recovery Implementation Team, we will build several locally-based Regional Working Groups. The Recovery Implementation Team will focus on range-wide recovery actions, range-wide coordination, and range-wide recovery related topics that are applicable to vernal pool species and ecosystems throughout California and southern Oregon. Regional Working Groups will be focused on local recovery efforts including working with local partners and landowners to protect, manage, and monitor the vernal pool species and habitat within their regions. The charter will be updated based on feedback and finalized before the Team and Working Groups officially launch.
