This project covers a suite of 10 dam removals in Pennsylvania brook trout habitat patches. This suite of dam removals will reconnect 190 miles of spawning, rearing, and foraging habitat for federally endangered species, imperiled species, and Species of Greatest Conservation Needs in the basins of the Ohio and Susquehanna River basins in Pennsylvania. Leveraging partner and government funds, these projects will benefit multiple priority species and human communities through increased public safety, improved recreation access and recreational angling opportunities, and reduced flood risk.

Fish passage project proposals can be initiated by any individual, organization, government, or agency. Fish passage is the ability of fish or other aquatic species to move freely throughout their life to find food, reproduce, and complete their natural migration cycles. Millions of barriers to fish passage across the country are fragmenting habitat and leading to species declines. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's National Fish Passage Program is working to reconnect watersheds to benefit both wildlife and people.
