Upcoming Events

Come participate in a regularly scheduled walk! These are recurring, free events that all meet at the covered observation deck next to the visitor center:

  • Weekly birding walks, led by volunteers, meet at 8 a.m. on Wednesdays. Bring your own binoculars and stay with the group as long as you like.
  • Weekly nature walks, led by Rob Chrisler and other volunteers, occur on Saturdays mornings at 10 o'clock.  These last up to 2 hours and cover between 1 and 3 miles, depending on participants.
  • On the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month, stretch your legs and join volunteer Lessie Tompkins at 10 a.m. to stroll the refuge trails, observing wildlife and seasonal changes at the refuge. This walk takes no more than two hours.
  • On the second Sunday of the month, nature enthusiasts and curious minds are invited to join Ed Beck at 10 a.m. to discover the habitats and wildlife of the refuge.  This one to two-hour introduction to the refuge covers wildlife, habitat management, and the refuge’s rich history.
  • Tahoma Bird Alliance's Julia Dolan leads a guided birding walk on the 4th Saturday of the month, starting at 8 a.m. and lasting 4 hours.
