Hiking is permitted throughout the Browns Park National Wildlife Refuge, so park your car, and do some exploring on foot. Please avoid disturbing animals by getting too close. You know you are approaching too close when animals stop feeding, when they stand up after they have been resting, when they change their direction of travel, or when they turn and start moving away.
For safety reasons, do not enter the historic homestead buildings and structures found on the Refuge. Additionally, do not enter Refuge facilities or residential areas, or approach staff who are operating heavy equipment.
A one-mile foot trail starts at the headquarters parking lot, follows the Beaver Creek, and then loops around the remnant McKnight homestead. Seasonally, songbirds and moose can be found along this trail.
