After migrating birds have flown to warmer climates and lakes have frozen over, ice fishing is a popular activity in North Dakota. Lake Alice offers opportunities to catch northern pike, walleye, yellow perch, and white bass. The Refuge is open to ice fishing according to state and Refuge-specific regulations.
Ice Fishing Regulations
Ice fishing is allowed from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm daily.
Vehicles may be used on the ice but are restricted to non-vegetated areas only.
Fish houses and other equipment must be removed from the refuge daily by 10:00 pm.
Camping and open fires are prohibited.
