Final CDs Available
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (Service) has finalized the new Compatibility Determinations (CDs) for Wildlife Observation and Photography and Research, Exploration, Scientific Collections, and Surveys for the Mariana Arc of Fire National Wildlife Refuge. These are updated CDs for existing uses on the Refuge. The drafts of these CDs were included in the November 2020 Mariana Trench MNM Draft MMP/EA. The official public comment period for the MMP/EA was from February 24 – July 26, 2021. Changes were made to the draft CDs in response to public comment, current guidance on the preparation of Compatibility Determinations, and current Department of the Interior and U.S. Fish & Wildlife guidance on the regulation of photography and other recording activities on National Wildlife Refuges and other public lands. Applicants for conducting activities on the Refuge are required to obtain a USFWS Special Use Permit (SUP). Address SUP applications for activities in the Mariana Arc of Fire NWR to Laura Beauregard at laura_beauregard@fws.gov
