Hunts will occur on approximately 1,229 acres of the 1,329-acre island refuge, with access provided on the 3.5-mile trail network and stationary docking locations. The refuge would permit hunting of white-tailed deer, coyote and turkey hunting during State designated dates and seasons. White-tailed deer hunting will occur on 3-day shotgun deer hunt in accordance with State regulations. A maximum of 102 hunters (34 hunters per day) may participate in the shotgun deer quota hunt, which is administered by a third-party contractor. RecAccess Coyote and turkey may also be taken during the 3-day deer hunt. Hunters will be required to apply for the three separate general season quota shotgun deer hunt dates individually. An $5 application fee and $20 refuge permit fee will apply. The $20 refuge permit fee includes the selectee and the selectee’s guest. Boat access to the island is not provided. The refuge allows stand hunting only and the use of hunting dogs is prohibited.
