Despite substantial losses of wetland habitats within the Tulare Basin, the area is recognized by the Central Valley Habitat Joint Venture (CVHJV) and in the North American Waterfowl Management Plan (NAWMP) for its international importance in the life cycle of migratory waterfowl and shorebirds of North America’s Pacific Flyway.
