Trails
Wapack NWR offers true mountain hunting. Its trails are therefore rated as moderate to difficult. Refuge visitors are reminded that the refuge is open from sunrise to sunset.
There are four hiking trails on the refuge: The Wapack Trail (4.0 miles on the refuge), Cliff trail (1.1 miles), and Ted’s and Carolyn’s trails (3 miles on the refuge).
For Your Safety: Refuge trails pass through remote, mountainous terrain and are rated as moderate to difficult. Carry a trail map, compass, and/or a GPS receiver and know how to use them. Because mountain weather can change suddenly, carry extra clothing and rain gear. Let someone know where you are going and when you plan to return. Finally, having a water bottle and some extra food is always a good idea.
