About Andre Bowser

Andre Bowser joined the Northeast Region in January 2024 as the Assistant Regional Director for the Office of Communications (OC).

Andre comes to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Boston, where he served as senior regional external affairs officer. He led disaster communications operations to help vulnerable communities by providing public information and community relations support in partnership with members of Congress, the media, and state, local, and tribal governments. He was one of the first responders to the severe flooding in Vermont in 2023 and established FEMA’s communications operations there. Andre has also served in communications leadership roles with the Department of Labor, Department of Veterans Affairs, Environmental Protection Agency (Region 2), and the U.S. Air Force.

Prior to his federal career, Andre spent a decade as a journalist and editor for multiple local and regional newspapers and was an instructor in news writing at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. In his free time, he writes and is an accomplished visual artist. Andre previously worked at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee as the deputy chief of public affairs, and the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Leeds as the public affairs officer. Andre is excited to return to the Pioneer Valley, where he will be close to his two daughters.
