Kurt A. Johnson is a wildlife biologist who specializes in climate change climate change
Climate change includes both global warming driven by human-induced emissions of greenhouse gases and the resulting large-scale shifts in weather patterns. Though there have been previous periods of climatic change, since the mid-20th century humans have had an unprecedented impact on Earth's climate system and caused change on a global scale.

He has more than 35 years of domestic and international work experience, primarily with the US Fish and Wildlife Service but also with NGOs and as a consultant and volunteer. His work on climate change adaptation and mitigation with FWS has spanned 18 years and includes focus on nature-based solutions, natural climate solutions, future-looking decision-making frameworks and climate-related disasters such as extreme weather events. He has a B.S. in wildlife ecology from Utah State University, an M.S in wildlife ecology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Ph.D. in Animal Ecology from Utah State University.
