About Rosemarie Gnam

Dr. Rosemarie Gnam is the Chief of the Division of Scientific Authority (DSA) for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. DSA provides scientific and technical advice related to international wildlife trade. Prior to coming to the DSA, she worked in the Service’s Ecological Services’ Program as a project leader of the Long Island New York Field Office. She has worked on wildlife trade issues in the Service’s Division of Management Authority and Office of Law Enforcement. She also spent four years at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, where she was Assistant Director of the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation at the museum. In her current role at DSA, Rosemarie enjoys influencing conservation in terms of species being impacted by trade and mentoring the next CITES leaders in conservation. Dr. Gnam received her PhD in biology from the City University of New York in 1991. Her research has centered on endangered parrots in the Caribbean region and the development of conservation management plans for these species. This research focused on population surveys and censuses, as well as behavioral and ecological studies.
