About A. Eric Alvarez
A. Eric Alvarez is deputy chief of the National Wildlife Refuge System.
He began his career with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service more than 30 years ago as a real estate appraiser in the Southeast and Great Lakes Regions.
Since then, Alvarez has held several leadership positions in headquarters: He was division chief for the Service Real Estate program, acting assistant director for International Affairs, and oversaw the Refuge System Division of Budget, Performance and Workforce. He has also managed all planning, budgeting, acquisitions, and disbursements for the Migratory Bird Conservation Fund, and served as secretary to the Migratory Bird Conservation Commission, as well as the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
Alvarez holds a Business Administration degree with a concentration in real estate, management and finance from Georgia State University.
