As a Regional Data Manager I work with the various Program Data Managers to coordinate and streamline Alaska Regional efforts to produce: documented, discoverable, accessible, and secure data. I also collaborate and coordinate with other Regional Data Managers and the FWS Enterprise Data Team to identify ways the FWS can better meet its obligation to provide findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR) data to the public. Other projects include: 1) the development, review, and interpretation of data standards, data policies, and procedures; 2) active participant of a collaborative, grass-roots effort between the FWS, USGS, and other DOI bureaus (the “DOI Partnership”), to coordinate our transition toward the use of ISO metadata; 3) identify and analyze user requirements to enhance the function of a suite of metadata authoring and processing tools (mdEditor and the mdToolkit); 4) translate user requirements into features for implementation by the mdToolkit software developers.
