About Jerome Barksdale
Jerome comes to us from his previous role as the Administrative Officer for the North Florida Ecological Services Field Office in Jacksonville, Florida (NFESO). Supporting the mission, Jerome enjoys representing at collegiate career fairs, giving presentations for student prospective employees and introducing the local classrooms to the Service.
Working in the administrative role since joining the service in 2012, he was the sole administrative support assistant. As the administrative Financial Assistance Awards Coordinator, he worked the with the Resource management and Coastal and Partners for Fish and Wildlife programs from submission to execution to closure as the project manager of the multi‐million-dollar awards budget. His prior duties at NFESO included Budget Analyst and Field Office accountant responsible for budget allocation, budget tracking systems (BTS), labor, and travel projections. His collateral duties as assigned included Purchasing Officer for all contracts, equipment, and vehicles. Jerome was the Personnel administrator for policy review, promotions, salary, benefits, new hires, retirements, and separations. Custodial property officer for three Ecological Services field offices. State performance evaluation and awards coordinator for submissions and tracking.
Before coming the work with the FWS, Jerome served 20 years of active duty in the U.S. Navy as a Personnel Specialist with tours onboard ship, aviation squadrons, and naval stations. He was the enlisted personnel officer responsible for career counseling, job classification, salary,
records, travel, and dependent benefits. He was a regional training coordinator supervising 17 southeast regional center programs and a triennial assessment team member. His final, most proud duty was that of southeast region ceremonial detail division completing over 150 command changes, parades, retirements, and funerals.
Jerome holds an Associate in Arts degree from Florida State College of Jacksonville, a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Columbia University, and M.A. degrees in Management and Leadership and Human Resource Management from Webster University.
He works and resides in Jacksonville, Florida with his wonderful wife of 14 years. In his off time, Jerome is a men’s life and community coach, men’s ministry leader and teacher.
