About Kristy Manuell
Kristy Manuell began her fisheries career in high school when she received the Hutton Student Scholarship through the American Fisheries Society. She worked for U.S. Geological Survey's Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center (GCMRC) in Flagstaff, Ariz., where she worked with Humpback Chub on the Colorado River. She graduated from Unity College in Maine, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree with double majors in Aquaculture/Fisheries and Wildlife. After completing her undergrad degree she was hired as a Fisheries Research Assistant for the Arizona Game and Fish Department in Flagstaff where she returned to the Colorado River. During the summer of 2016 she worked as a technician on the Vermejo Park Ranch in New Mexico where she assisted in Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout recovery. In the summer of 2017 she worked for the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association in Alaska to spawn Humpback and Sockeye Salmon.
Kristy began working for the service in May of 2018 and is currently a Fish Biologist for the Arizona Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office in Whiteriver. The majority of her work focuses on Apache Trout recovery. She also works with Gila Topminnow, Desert Sucker, Longfin Dace and Speckled Dace.
Kristy enjoys hunting, archery, cooking and shopping.
