About Leah Shizuru (Kamilipua)

Leah Shizuru (her Hawaiian name, Kamilipua, translates to “beloved child/beloved flower”) was born on the island of Oʻahu, raised in Kuliʻouʻou Valley, and is kanaka ʻōiwi (Native Hawaiian). Her heritage and connection to place motivate her to champion Indigenous voices and values in her work.
