About Mark Tyson
Mark Tyson is a fish and wildlife biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service based out of Austin, Texas. Since beginning his career with the Service in 2023, Mark has served as a transportation liaison working exclusively on Section 7 Section 7
Section 7 Consultation
The Endangered Species Act (ESA) directs all Federal agencies to work to conserve endangered and threatened species and to use their authorities to further the purposes of the Act. Section 7 of the Act, called "Interagency Cooperation," is the mechanism by which Federal agencies ensure the actions they take, including those they fund or authorize, do not jeopardize the existence of any listed species.

Prior to joining the Service, he was an operations project manager within the navigation branch at the US Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District Office and he also spent 4 years as a natural resource specialist ranger working at Hords Creek Lake/O.C. Fisher Reservoir and Wallisville Lake Project with Corps. He has a B.S. in Natural Resource Management from Sul Ross State University and an M.S. in Wildlife, Aquatic and Wildlands Science and Management from Texas Tech University. Mark is a native Texan and US Navy Veteran, and when he is not at work, he can usually be found hiking outdoors with his family or driving his mud boat in search of backwater adventures.
