About Matt McDonald
Matt McDonald was born in Richton, MS and graduated from Greenwood High school in 1995. He enlisted in the United States Army as an Artillery Forward Observer on February 14, 1997 where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was selected to attend the Officer Candidate School. Matt was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in 2003 and has served as a Rifle Platoon Leader, Infantry Advisor to the Afghan Border Police, Battalion Logistics Officer, Company Commander, Advisor to the Saudi National Guard, Battalion Operations Officer, and Executive Officer. Matt deployed to Bosnia in support of Operation Joint Forge in 1997, Afghanistan in 2007, Iraq in 2009, and Saudi Arabia in 2014. Matt retired from the Army as a Major on August 1, 2017, commissioned as a Federal Wildlife Officer with the US Fish and Wildlife Service on June 1, 2020, and is assigned to Yukon Delta NWR. Matt is a graduate of the US Army Command General Staff College, has a Bachelor in Criminal Justice and a Master in Homeland Security. He is married to the former Melissa Stout of Oak Grove, MS and they have five children: Kaleb, Jakob, Kyla, Jared, and Kaden.
