About Matthew Heller
Matt began his career with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the private sector back in the mid-1990s. This work in the private sector included collaborating with all jurisdiction levels of government, tribal organizations, emergency management system organizations, and various private sector organizations. In 2005, employment changed to county government, where Matt enjoyed GIS work for all county departments in a setting to serve the citizens, staff, and private entities of Mesa County, Colorado.
Matt joined the USFWS Science Applications program of the Mountain-Prairie Region as a cartographer in 2012. In this position he performs various GIS, project management, and data management services as science support for the diverse collaborators in landscape conservation. GIS web, database, and data processing programming, along with GIS/IT project management and cartography, are the areas of his work emphasis and interest in the past and the present. Matt sits on several collaborative teams, including the USFWS Geospatial Steering Committee as the USFWS Mountain Prairie Region (R6) representative. Read more about Matt on ORCID.
