About Michael Isham

Michael J. “Mic” Isham Jr, was born and raised in Great Lakes region of what is now known as Wisconsin. Mic has spent most of his life hunting, fishing and gathering on or near the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe Indian reservation. Mic brings to Alaska more than 35 years of experience in natural resources management including fisheries, wildlife, forestry, Wild Rice restoration, and climate resilience efforts. Mic spent 22 years as an elected Tribal leader serving as a Tribal councilmember, Sec/Treasurer culminating in two terms as Tribal Chairman. As an Elected Tribal Leader of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, he has been recognized with multiple awards for his efforts in Protecting and Enhancing Tribal Sovereignty and Treaty Rights.
