About Rod Engle
Rod began working for the Service as part of the Student Career Enhancement Program in 2001 spending time at the Arcata Fisheries Resource Office working in the lower Klamath and Trinity Rivers on Chinook salmon, at Lahontan National Fish Hatchery working with the Lahontan cutthroat trout in Nevada and Utah, and the Olympia Fish Health Center traveling the Puget Sound and upper Columbia River in Washington helping perform fish health inspections on number of salmon and steelhead hatchery programs. Rod previously worked at the Columbia River Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office in Vancouver, Washington performing hatchery assessment and coordination duties for the Columbia River Gorge National Fish Hatchery Complex. While there, Rod coordinated a workgroup to focus on pre and post-Condit Dam removal fish abundance and recolonization studies in the White Salmon River, Washington and was a representative in the U.S. v. Oregon Production Advisory Committee.
At the Lower Snake River Compensation Plan Office, Rod has the following duties.
• Works with LSRCP cooperators to develop or use specialized studies to resolve controversial issues.
• Implements the LSRCP program goals and objectives with our cooperators while advancing scientific content and credibility.
• Provides scientific review and oversight of LSRCP cooperator programs and help coordinate studies and annual monitoring efforts toward LSRCP goals, reporting and permitting.
• Provides technical and development oversight on the FINS hatchery database.
• Represents the LSRCP program and interests in salmon and steelhead hatchery coordination, science or technical forums.

MS - Natural Resources with Fisheries emphasis, Humboldt State University
Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work Rod spends time with his family, shuttling kids to and from soccer or basketball obligations. They actively explore Idaho and the West through camping and fishing.
