About Todd Hopkins (aka Red Todd)
Dr. Hopkins has led several southeastern and Gulf of Mexico landscape-scale conservation efforts such as the Peninsular Florida Landscape Conservation Cooperative, the Strategic Assessment of Gulf Coast Landscapes, the Florida Cooperative Conservation Blueprint, the Florida Fire Mapper, and the South Atlantic Coastal Study. While based in Reno, Nevada as the Science Coordinator for the Great Basin Landscape Conservation Cooperative, a five-state self-directed partnership that delivered conservation and climate resilience though partners. He helped write the Resistance and Resilience to Fire and Invasive Weeds strategy which the Bureau of Land Management implemented in 14 western states. He started the Great Basin Consortium to strengthen collaboration between scientists and managers and founded the Great Basin Weather and Climate Forum. Todd spent a decade working on Everglades Restoration, where he and his team helped move the first five Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Program projects from planning to implementation. Todd co-chaired the Everglades Adaptive Management Team and helped write the Department of Interior’s Science Plan for South Florida. Todd is a native of California and did his undergraduate work in Zoology at the University of California, Berkley, his MS is in Ecology from San Francisco State University, and received a Doctorate in Physiological Ecology and Misadventure from the University of California, Davis.
