Mount Tamalpais sits high above the San Francisco Bay Area as an iconic natural landmark. It provides visitors and the nearby community with clean water, fresh air, and a stunning natural landscape for recreation. This case study examines how five partners - a federal agency, a state agency, a county agency, a municipal water district, and a nonprofit organization - came together to sustain the health of the mountain.
This case study outlines the need for multi-agency and cross-jurisdictional partnerships, as well as the steps and key issues involved in forming such partnerships. The materials provided in relation to this case study include four major reports detailing and evaluating the different phases of the partnership, as well as two brief community engagement guides.
